Feminism and Faith

Lilith: Billing itself as “Independent, Jewish, and Frankly Feminist,” Lilith explores the lives of modern Jewish women around the world. With essays and articles on faith, culture, war and art, this magazine provides a dynamic and three-dimensional portrait of Jewish faith and culture as it intersects with women’s lives.

The website supports an in-print magazine, and only a few “highlights” from the most recent issue, as well as a selection of “landmark” articles are available for free online. However, there are some worthwhile online-only features as well, including a blog and downloadable podcasts, which include readings from Lilith’s back issues.

Muslimah Media Watch: Providing “a forum where we, as Muslim women, can critique how our images appear in the media and popular culture,” the Muslimah Media Watch blog strives to combat the media’s “one dimensional and misleading” portrayal of Muslim women by giving voice to women from a diversity of backgrounds and beliefs. Regular contributors include Muslim women from Egypt, the UK, and North America, as well as South Africa.
